Gunaseelan Rajoo began his rally career at the tender age of 21. His love and passion for cars eventually lead him to enter the rally scene as a privateer in the novice category in 1995 which developed his career path to Team Proton Malaysia (formerly known as Team USPD) in 1996.

His pioneer participation in 1995 saw him finish as the first runner-up in the Novice Category of the Petronas Malaysian Rally Championship (PMRC) and in the subsequent year 1996, he emerged the Novice champion of the PMRC. He was nicknamed "Mr. Consistent" for constantly finishing every rally he participated in and for continually improving his timing.

Appropriately he won the Malaysian National Rally Championship for the Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) category for five consecutive years as well as winning six National Championship titles and six Best Malaysian 2WD Driver titles. Gunaseelan has also participated in the Rally of Indonesia 2000 where he won Best 2WD and the Group N2 title finishing fifth overall.

Gunaseelan is debut participation in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship saw his best international results to date, finishing as first runner-up in the APRC 2WD category for year 2001, even though he only participated in three of the six events, losing only by a mere point to the eventual champion.

Gunaseelan reached yet another milestone in his rally career by becoming the inaugural Malaysian National Tarmac Champion in 2001, sealing his position as one of Malaysia's top Drivers.

In his debut ride of a Proton 4WD Turbo, Gunaseelan finished second in the national champions in 2002 and continued to lead his team to win the Malaysian National Rally Championship in 2003.

Gunaseelan subsequently joined a local Malaysian team in 2004 for only 2 rounds of the Malaysian Rally Championship as he was concentrating on rallies in China but nonetheless finished 3rd in the 2004 Malaysian Rally Championship standings. In China, Gunaseelan performed equally well winning in 2 classes in the 2 rounds that he competed. Year 2005, saw an absence of Gunaseelan from the Malaysian Rally Championship, as he was a works driver with Team VolksWagon Beijing in China, finishing a commendable 5th in that championship.

Gunaseelan returned to the Malaysian championship in 2006 under his own team GSR Motorsports but was eventually selected to drive for Proton Rally Team Malaysia for the final round. He continued to dominate the rally with his personal sponsor Pennzoil Racing by winning the Best 2WD (Malaysian Champion 2WD category) and P11 class.

To-date Gunaseelan is the proud owner of Pennzoil GSR Rally Team and has within his team top drivers such as 4 times Asia Pacific Rally Champion Cody Crocker, Japan's Katsu Taguchi and Malaysian's Flying Sikh Karamjit Singh.

Gunaseelan makes a comeback in 2011 to the regions most prestigious race, the Asia Pacific Rally Championship and is aiming repeat his supremacy in the 2WD category with his Suzuki Swift 1.6 Sports along side his co-driver Jagdev Singh.
