Rifat Sungkar currently drives for the Cusco-Pertamina PrimaXP team and is competing in the full 2011 Asia Pacific Rally Championship.

In 2010 won the APRC Rally of New Caledonia and was one of three drivers that could have won the drivers title in the last round. Unfortunately mechanical problems robbed Sungkar of the title. During 2007 and 2008 Sungkar drove for the Motor Image team with several podium finishes.

Sungkar was the Indonesian Sprint Rally Champion for five consecutive years (1998-2002). During that period, he was driving under the umbrella of Pertamina Rally Team. He was also once chosen to be the Ambassador of Tag Heuer for Indonesia in Asia Pacific (2000-2002). An achievement award from the President of Indonesia in 2005 really added up his credibility as one of the most recognized and successful athletes in Indonesia.

For 2006, Rifat finished 4th overall in his first year competing in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship. This is due to a remarkable three podium finishes out of the six events that he participated in. Rifat’s talent and career is backed up by a strong rally-minded family background. Starting from his grandparents all to way to his parents and brother, they are all well-respected and successful rally drivers in Indonesia.

Through out 2005, Rifat drove a Malaysian based car ‘Proton Pert’ (equivalent to Mitsubishi Evolution VI) and fighting for the 2005 Overall Indonesian National Rally and Sprint Rally Championships as well as competing in six Malaysian Rally Championship events and a number of Asia Pacific Rally Championships. He finished as a runner-up in the overall 2005 Malaysian Rally Championship.
